Spiritual Development
Our church places a high importance on spiritual growth and development throughout life. We have a variety of regular and seasonal opportunities for children, youth, and adults.
Adult Spiritual Development
There are two ongoing adult classes offered on Sunday mornings. Jack Finney teaches an ongoing Bible study at 9:00 that meets in the library. Pastors Dwayne and Vicky lead a video/discussion class at 9:15 that meets in the second floor classroom.
Pastor Dwayne teaches a Tuesday afternoon class that meets at 1:15 in the second floor classroom. The class topics are either Bible or current book study and require a certain amount of preparation. The class is now working their way through the Bible in a Genesis-Revelation overview. A new class will be offered in the Spring at the completion of this one.
There are two small spiritual direction groups facilitated by Pastor Vicky that have regularly scheduled meetings at the church. Spiritual direction is the process of reflection on the presence of God in our daily lives in a confidential one-on-one or small group relationship. If you are interested in learning more about joining one of these groups, please contact Pastor Vicky (vicky@fpcrose.org).
A special class will be offered during Advent and Lent using the Kerygma curriculum study "Hallelujah! The Bible and Handel's Messiah." Organist Jan Petersen and Pastor Vicky lead this class that will meet on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. December 2, 9, 16 and 23 during Advent and then March 10, 17, 24, 31, and April 7 and 14 during Lent. Study books are available to borrow from the church. Please contact pastor Vicky if you are interested.
Youth Group
We have recently combined with the youth of Faith Lutheran, St. George's Episcopal and First United Methodist to form a wonderful new youth group that meets monthly at First Presbyterian on the 2nd Sunday evening of the month at 5:00 for food, fun and fellowship. Other events just for the youth of our church are also scheduled from time to time.
Children's Church
Grade school children are invited to leave the sanctuary after "Let the Children Come" to go upstairs to a Sunday school class. Preschoolers can remain in worship or go to the nursery.
