Church Staff

Co-Pastor
Rev. Vicky Brown has a Bachelor's degree from Linfield College, a Master's in Education from Princeton Theological Seminary and received her Master's of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary.  Vicky received a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction in 2009 and is presently working on her Doctor of Ministry Degree. Vicky likes to serve a church whose members desire to continue growing in their spiritual lives. Music has always played a big role in her life and ministry and she has studied both voice and guitar. She also enjoys reading, walking, gardening, quilting, cross stitching and cooking. vicky@fpcrose.org   

Co-Pastor
Rev. Dr. Dwayne Brown has a Bachelor's degree from Linfield College, a Master's of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  He is currently working on a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction.  Dwayne enjoys working with people of all ages.  His hobbies include guitar, reading, traveling, computer games and he is also an inactive private pilot.  He feels having a sense of humor makes life much more enjoyable.   dwayne@fpcrose.org  

Over the past 35+ years, Dwayne and Vicky have worked together in a variety of ministries.  A new and exciting phase of their lives began when they came to First Presbyterian in Roseburg in May of 2000 as Co-Pastors.  Dwayne and Vicky have two grown children: Peter and Elizabeth.

Jubilate Choir Director
Dr. Jason Heald
has been our Choir Director for over ten years. Jason is also Director of Music at Umpqua Community College.  He holds a Ph.D. in composition from the University of Oregon, a Master's degree from the University of Portland, and a Bachelor's degree from Lewis & Clark College.  Jason is a prolific composer and has received many accolades for his many musical abilities.

Organist and Celestial Tollers Bell Choir Director 
Jan Petersen has been enhancing our worship services since 1968 and is very skilled with the Reuters pipe organ we have in the sanctuary.  Jan's life has always revolved around music which is a great blessing to our congregation. 


Evensong Bell Choir Director and Co-Music Program Director
Pat Mehlhoff
is a professional musician who excels as a flautist.  She and her husband, Bill, have three grown children and several grandchildren.  Pat is a retired music teacher from the public school system, but still enjoys working as a substitute.  She also participates in the UCC Symphony Orchestra.


Co-Music Program Director
Donna Spicer is married to Wayne, her real estate broker husband, and has two grown sons.  She is a retired music and English teacher and currently stays busy with many musical endeavors, including directing the Vintage Singers.

Administrative Professional 
Betty Taylor
joined the staff in June of 2005.  She is married to Jim and has a grown son, Nick Marshall.  She has lived in Douglas County since 1970.  She worked many years in social and youth services and the Community Education Department at UCC.  Painting, writing and family history research occupy her time outside of work.  She has a bachelor's degree in Management from Northwest Christian college.

Custodian
Ben Cruz
has been the church's custodian since 1984.  He is married to Reina, they have four children, one granddaughter and one grandson.
